Adjust a price at the register

What does this do for me?

Price adjustment lowers the unit price of a cart line without changing the SKU, so your inventory and reporting stay accurate. It is decrease-only: the new price cannot exceed the original price.

1. Open the adjustment

  1. On the POS Smart Grid, select the Price Adjustment tile. Its subheading reads Lower line price when it is available.
  2. You can also open the same form from a cart line’s action menu with Adjust line price.
If the tile is not available, the feature is disabled for the location or your user is not assigned to it.

2. Select the cart line

  1. Under Select a cart line, choose the line you want to change.
  2. If the modal was opened from a line item, that line is preselected and the New unit price field is filled with its current price.
A line that already carries a discount cannot be adjusted, because removing the discount later would also clear a promotion that was already there.

3. Enter the new price

  1. In New unit price, enter a price of 0 or more. It must not exceed the current price, and it cannot have more decimal places than the cart currency allows.
  2. In Reason, optionally enter why the price changed. The reason is saved with the action and used as the discount label.
  3. Select Apply price adjustment.

4. Confirm the result

A success banner reads Adjusted followed by the line and the applied unit price. If the app cannot confirm the adjustment with Shopify POS, check the line before retrying. Every applied adjustment writes a PRICE_EDIT event to the audit log, including the SKU, the old and new unit price, the quantity, and the reason. Next: Review the audit log.
