Manage Settings and Compliance

What does this do for me?

The Settings page controls every part of your age-gate configuration. You can set the minimum age, choose verification mode, configure country and state rules, set up integrations, and manage compliance policies.

1. Open Settings

  1. Open Age Verification in Shopify admin.
  2. Select Settings in the app navigation.

2. General settings

Turn Enable age verification on or off. Choose between Simple (button click) and Enhanced (provider-hosted document check) modes. Set the Minimum age, edit the gate copy, and configure Under-age behavior (redirect or block message) and the cookie expiry in days.

3. Country and state rules

You can set different minimum ages by country (Pro and above) and by state or province (Enterprise). The app resolves the applicable minimum age based on the visitor’s location. Turn on the T&C consent checkbox (Pro and above) to require shoppers to accept terms before the gate passes. Export consent CSV from Settings.

5. Integrations

Configure signed outbound event webhooks (Pro and above). On Enterprise, you can also configure the Merchant API, API webhooks, and automatic gate-copy translation. Enable Merchant API and API webhooks here, then select Manage API credentials to create bearer keys on the app’s Developer page.

6. Policy version log

On Enterprise, select Policy versions to view the history of saved policy changes, backed by the hash-chained compliance audit log. Each entry shows the timestamp, policy version, and verification mode.

7. Privacy requests

Privacy requests are not part of Settings. The account owner opens them from Privacy requests in the app navigation to review customer data export records created by Shopify’s data-request webhook. See View verifications and privacy requests.

8. Save changes

Select Save to publish your settings. Enforcement-affecting changes use a versioned publication process to keep the admin and storefront in sync.
