# Set Up Your Organization

> Create a TexasVerified organization and its first retail-location record.

# Set Up Your Organization

## What does this do for me?

Onboarding opens your member organization, creates the first location, reserves its certificate record, and prepares its document drives.

## Before you begin

Sign in to TexasVerified. If your account is authenticated but is not attached to an organization, the portal sends you to onboarding. Administrators and auditor-only accounts use different consoles and do not create retailer organizations here.

## Create the organization

1. Enter the legal business name.
2. Add a DBA or trade name if the business uses one.
3. Enter the first location's display name and street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
4. Add the optional county, phone, and contact email if they apply.

## Use the optional Comptroller lookup

Enter an 11-digit Texas Taxpayer ID and choose **Look up my locations**. If records are returned, select an outlet to prefill the location name and address. Every prefilled field stays editable.

The lookup is a convenience, not a gate. If it is unavailable, returns no locations, or shows stale details, enter or correct the location manually. Changing the Taxpayer ID clears the earlier lookup selection so details from two identifiers are not combined.

## Finish setup

Choose **Create organization**. TexasVerified issues the certificate number; the onboarding form does not ask you to make one up. After creation, the app opens the dashboard. If the organization does not yet have an active paid subscription, the portal shows its plan picker before the member workspace.
