# Set Up the Client Portal

## What does this do for me?

Clients get a separate portal where they can view their matters, download documents, review invoices, pay online, submit forms, request appointments, and send messages to your firm.

## 1. Grant portal access

1. Open **Clients**.
2. Select the client.
3. Open **Portal access**.
4. Choose **Grant access**.
5. Enter the client's email. Legal Hub sends an invitation to sign in.

## 2. What clients see

After signing in at the Legal Hub sign-in page, client-only users are routed to the **client portal**. They see:

* **My Matters** — matters the firm has made accessible, with detail pages showing linked documents and invoices.
* **Documents** — documents the firm has marked as client-visible.
* **Invoices** — accessible invoices with the option to pay online.
* **Forms** — intake forms and other client-submittable forms.
* **Appointments** — request appointments with the firm.
* **Messages** — send and receive messages with firm staff.
* **Settings** — update their preferences.

## 3. Control document and matter visibility

1. Open a matter and choose **Portal settings**.
2. Toggle **Visible in portal** to make the matter and its linked documents and invoices visible.
3. For individual documents, use the **Client access** settings.

## 4. Client pays an invoice

Clients see a **Pay** button on accessible invoices. Payment is processed through **Stripe**. The payment record appears in the firm's **Payments** screen.
