# Invite household members

> Invite another person to a HouseholdOS household by email or shareable link.

# Invite household members

## What does this do for me?

An invitation lets another signed-in person join the selected household with a role you choose.

## Create an invitation

You must be the household owner to complete this task with the default role permissions in the reviewed source snapshot.

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Select the **Members** tab.
3. Select **Invite Member**.
4. Choose Owner, Adult, Teen, Child, Guest, or Co-parent.
5. To send an email, enter the address and select the email action. To share the invitation yourself, select **Generate Link**, then copy the link.

The screen shows member-management controls to owners and adults. However, default permissions allow only owners to complete the invitation, so an adult without a custom administration permission receives an access-denied response. If email delivery is not configured or fails after an owner creates the invitation, the application keeps the shareable link available for manual sharing.

## After the person receives the invitation

The invitation link opens `/invite/<token>`. After the signed-in recipient accepts it, HouseholdOS returns them to the Dashboard and adds an active membership for that household.
