# Set up your household

> Create the first HouseholdOS household and add initial members.

# Set up your household

## What does this do for me?

The setup wizard creates the household you will use and makes your signed-in account its owner. It also prepares starter chore templates and rewards.

## Before you begin

Sign in or create an account. The wizard appears when the signed-in account does not belong to a household.

## Create the household

1. Enter a **Household Name**.
2. Choose Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time.
3. Select **Continue**.
4. Optional: enter a member name, choose **Adult**, **Teen**, or **Child**, and select **Add**. Repeat for each person you want to add during setup.
5. Select **Create Household**.

The application saves the signed-in account as the owner. Members added in this wizard are starter household records; use a real invitation when another person needs to sign in with their own account.

>
> The wizard enables USD currency, the `MM/DD/YYYY` date format, Sunday as the first day of the week, and points. Secure Vault starts disabled.
