# Create and run playbooks

> Set up vendor-price adjustments, metafield backfills, or tag governance playbooks for manual or scheduled execution.

# Create and run playbooks

## What does this do for me?

Playbooks are reusable bulk operations. Choose a type, configure the parameters, and run it manually or on a schedule. Each run creates a change set that goes through the same review and approval workflow.

## Supported playbook types

### Vendor price adjustment

Adjust product prices for one vendor by a percentage. Use a positive number to increase prices or a negative number to decrease them. Range: -90% to +500%.

### Metafield backfill

Set a metafield value on products that match a query. For example, set `custom.priority` to `standard` on all active products.

### Tag governance

Add or remove a tag from products that match a query. For example, add the tag `reviewed` to all active products.

## 1. Choose a playbook type

1. Go to **Playbooks** in the sidebar.
2. Select one of the three playbook types.
3. Fill in the playbook details:
   * **Name** — a descriptive name.
   * **Project** — optionally group with related work.
   * Type-specific fields (vendor, percentage, namespace, key, value, tag, action).
4. Optionally configure a schedule:
   * **Run every (minutes)** — set an interval of at least 10 minutes.
   * **Enable schedule** — turn on scheduled execution.
5. Select **Create**.

## 2. Run a playbook

1. Go to **Playbooks** in the sidebar.
2. Find your saved playbook and select **Run now**.
3. The playbook creates a change set with the proposed changes.
4. Go to **Change sets** to review, approve, and execute the result.

## 3. Schedule a playbook

When you enable a schedule, the app runs the playbook automatically at the configured interval. Each run creates a new change set.

Schedule limits per plan:

| Limit | Standard | Growth |
| - | - | - |
| Enabled scheduled playbooks | 20 | 100 |

## 4. Manage saved playbooks

* **Saved playbooks** are listed on the Playbooks page below the creation form.
* Each playbook shows its type, whether it is scheduled, and the next scheduled run time.
* Run any playbook manually using the **Run now** button.
* Saved playbooks cannot be edited, disabled, or deleted from the Playbooks page. To stop a scheduled playbook, contact support.
