# Run retail workflows

> Use the POS Retail Workflows tile for carts, cash, pickup, returns, tasks, transfers, the second screen, and audits.

# Run retail workflows

## What does this do for me?

The **Retail Workflows** tile opens a single POS workspace that runs the location-scoped workflows your plan grants. The tile shows how many workflows are available and disables any that your plan does not include.

## 1. Open the workspace

1. On the POS Smart Grid, select the **Retail Workflows** tile.
2. Under **Choose a workflow**, pick the workflow you want. A workflow your plan does not include shows as "plan required" and cannot be selected.

## 2. Run a workflow

1. Fill in the fields for the selected workflow. The labels change per workflow, for example **Shopify order ID or name** for local pickup, **Opening cash float** for cash balancing, or **Task title** and **Checklist items, comma separated** for tasks.
2. For cashbook entries, choose an **Entry type**: Deposit, Withdrawal, Fee, or Adjustment.
3. Select **Run workflow**.

A success banner reads **Workflow complete** with the result or record ID. Some workflows, such as the second screen, return a display link.

## 3. What each workflow does

| Workflow | What you do |
| - | - |
| Training mode | Record a simulated session/event log. It does not intercept Shopify POS checkout. |
| Park / defer carts | Save a durable cart snapshot. It does not clear or restore the live register cart. |
| Cash balancing | Open a shift with an opening float and close it with a calculated Z-report. |
| Local pickup | Record local ready/collect/cancel state after verifying the Shopify order. Collection does not fulfill the Shopify order. |
| Returns rule engine | Evaluate an order against owner-managed return rules. |
| Cross-location inventory | Look up inventory levels across your active locations. |
| Partial payments | Keep a compare-and-swap operator ledger. It does not capture a tender or complete a Shopify sale. |
| Tasks & checklists | Create a task with item-level completion. |
| Stock-take transfers | Move stock to a destination location with a stable reference. |
| Second screen | Show a signed customer-facing cart display while the modal is open. |
| Cashbook reconciliation | Record typed deposit, withdrawal, fee, or adjustment entries and reconcile against daily totals. |
| Inventory audit | Log a per-staff inventory count from POS. |
| Sell by weight | Calculate a weighted sale from POS. |

The available workflows depend on your plan. Starter covers training, carts, cash balancing, pickup, roles, and the audit trail. Professional adds returns, cross-location inventory, partial payments, tasks, and the inventory/sell-by-weight tools. Enterprise adds stock-take transfers, the second screen, cashbook reconciliation, rollups, identity verification, and API webhooks.
