# Manage retail data

# Manage retail data

## What does this do for me?

Retail data keeps operational facts with your catalog instead of in a separate spreadsheet. Catalog attributes such as bin location, supplier SKU, and restock threshold save as Shopify metafields on products and variants, so they travel with the item. Store and location operating rules save as metaobjects.

## 1. Open retail data

Open the app's **Retail data** page.

## 2. Save catalog attributes

1. Pick the product or variant.
2. Enter the retail attributes, such as the **bin location**, **supplier SKU**, and **restock threshold**.
3. Save. The save bar is contextual: it appears when you have unsaved changes and offers save and discard actions.

## 3. Save location operating config

1. Edit the location's operating configuration.
2. Save the metaobject.

## 4. If a save fails

A failed save shows an in-place **Retry saving** action and keeps your unsaved form input, so you can retry without re-entering the data.

Retail data is a Starter capability. The first time it is used, the app provisions the required metafield and metaobject definitions in your store.
