# Issue store credit

> Hand a customer store credit from the POS store-credit tile with an amount, currency, and note.

# Issue store credit

## What does this do for me?

Store credit lets you credit a customer's account directly from the register instead of a back-office workaround. Store credit is a Professional plan capability.

## 1. Open the form

1. On the POS Smart Grid, select the **Store credit** tile. Its subheading reads **Issue credit** when it is available.
2. You can also open the same form from a customer's action menu, which pre-fills the customer.

## 2. Choose the customer

1. Under **Customer**, enter the **Customer ID**.
2. You can paste a Shopify global ID.

## 3. Set the amount

1. Under **Credit amount**, enter the **Amount**. It must be greater than 0.
2. Check the **Currency**. It must be a three-letter code such as `USD`; the field uppercases your entry.
3. Under **Details**, optionally add a **Note** explaining the credit.
4. Select **Issue store credit**.

## 4. Result

A success banner shows the issued amount, its currency, and the customer's new balance. Every issuance writes a **STORE\_CREDIT** event to the audit log. The request is idempotent, so a network retry does not double-credit the customer.
