# Get started with POS True Retail Operations

## What does this do for me?

POS True Retail Operations adds register controls to Shopify POS that POS does not give you out of the box: SKU-preserving price adjustments, manager-approved transaction voids, and one-tap store credit. Every action is recorded in an audit trail.

## 1. Install and open the app

1. Install the app from Shopify and open it from your Shopify admin. The app appears as an embedded app named **POS Retail Ops** in the admin chrome.
2. The app captures your shop's primary/custom domain automatically during install. You do not type it.

## 2. Complete the Setup guide

On first run, App Home shows an owner setup step. The skip control defers setup for this install only and remembers that choice across navigation and reload.

1. On **Home**, review the setup progress banner and the owner setup modal.
2. Choose a plan if you have not already. The eligible checkout shows the exact charge before it applies.
3. If you are not ready, select the skip action. The banner remains available so you can return later.

Home setup progress requires either an audit event or a successful workflow operation; the count updates after your first register action.

## 3. Turn features on for each location

Register features are off by default per location. A staff member cannot use a feature until an account owner enables it and assigns the POS users for that location.

1. Open **Settings** in the app.
2. Select a location.
3. Turn on the features you want, such as price adjustments, voids, or store credit.
4. Assign the POS users who may use the location and the managers who may approve voids.
5. Save the location settings.

See [Configure location settings](https://docs.pcnaid.com/nodes/shopify/pos-true-retail-operations/merchant/guides/configure-location-settings.md) for the exact fields.

## 4. Run your first register action

Price adjustment and void (Starter) and store credit (Professional) each have a POS Smart Grid tile and a matching action on the line item, order, or customer screen.

1. Open Shopify POS at a location you enabled.
2. Select a tile such as **Price Adjustment** or **Void transaction**. **Store credit** appears on the Professional plan.
3. Complete the action. The extension confirms access with the backend before it shows its form.

## 5. Review the audit log

Open the app's **Audit log** page to see recorded price edits, voids, and store credits with filters. History exports run from the [operations tools](https://docs.pcnaid.com/nodes/shopify/pos-true-retail-operations/merchant/guides/operations-tools.md).
