# Configure VIP tiers

> Set up VIP tiers with spend thresholds, points multipliers, and perks for your best customers.

# Configure VIP tiers

## What does this do for me?

VIP tiers reward your best customers with status, earning multipliers, and exclusive perks. Tier assignment recalculates automatically as customers earn and as points expire. VIP tiers are available on the **Growth** plan and above.

## 1. Open VIP Tiers

1. In the app sidebar, select **Points Rules**.
2. Under the sub-navigation, select **VIP Tiers**.

## 2. Create a tier

1. Select **Create tier**.
2. Enter a **Name** (e.g., Silver, Gold, Platinum).
3. Set the **Threshold** — lifetime spend or lifetime points required to reach this tier.
4. Set the **Points multiplier** — how many times the base earning rate a member at this tier receives.
5. Configure **Perks** for each tier, such as:
   * Free shipping at a spend threshold.
   * Bonus points on orders.
   * Birthday multiplier.
   * Early access to sales (by number of days).
6. Select **Save**.

## 3. Tier management

* Tiers are evaluated automatically: customers are assigned or demoted based on their lifetime spend or points.
* A scheduled background job handles demotion when a customer no longer meets a tier's threshold.
* Customer tags (`vip-{tier}`) and metafields update automatically.

## 4. How customers see tiers

Customers see their current tier name, next tier name, progress percentage, and points needed to unlock the next tier on the storefront loyalty hub and customer account page.
