# Create your first reward

> Define a discount, free-shipping, or free-product reward and set its points cost.

# Create your first reward

## What does this do for me?

Rewards let customers redeem their points for something valuable. You can create discount codes, free-shipping coupons, free product rewards, and store credit. The Free plan supports up to 3 active rewards; paid plans have unlimited rewards.

## 1. Open Rewards

1. In the app sidebar, select **Rewards**.
2. The Rewards page shows your catalog of active and inactive rewards plus sub-pages for **Store Credit** and **Discount Codes**.

## 2. Create a reward

1. Select **Create reward**.
2. Enter a **Name** and **Description** for the reward.
3. Set the **Points cost** — how many points the customer must spend.
4. Choose the **Discount type**:
   * **Percentage off** — set a percentage discount value.
   * **Fixed amount** — set a fixed dollar discount.
   * **Free shipping** — no value needed.
   * **Free product** — select a product; the app auto-generates a 100% discount code.
5. For the Free plan, you are limited to 3 active rewards. Paid plans support unlimited.
6. Select **Save**.

## 3. Activate the reward

After saving, toggle the reward to **Active**. It becomes available for customers to redeem through the storefront loyalty hub, checkout, and POS.

## 4. How customers redeem

Customers see active rewards in the storefront loyalty hub, checkout extension (Pro+ plans), and POS extension. When they select a reward, the app deducts points and creates a Shopify discount code (`LOYALTY-*` prefix).
