# Get started with Customer Gate

> Work through the Customer Gate setup checklist to go from install to a working application and access workflow.

# Get started with Customer Gate

## What does this do for me?

After you install the app, Customer Gate walks you through the four setup steps that make a complete application and access workflow. Each step has a **Done**, **To do**, or **Blocked** badge so you always know what to do next.

## 1. Start your plan

On install you land on the **Dashboard**. The first setup step is **Start your plan**, which opens **Plans and billing**. Choose **Standard** or **Growth** and approve the charge in Shopify. Eligible shops receive a one-time **14-day trial**.

Until a plan is active, the later setup steps stay **Blocked** with an explanation of the missing prerequisite.

## 2. Define what you collect

The **Define what you collect** step opens **Forms**. A **profile schema** lists the fields an applicant fills in. Install the **wholesale starter** template to create the schema, form, approval rule, and access rule together, or build the schema and form manually.

## 3. Publish an application form

A **form journey** is the page applicants actually see. It needs an active profile schema first. Publish the form and note its slug.

## 4. Decide what approval unlocks

The **Decide what approval unlocks** step opens **Access rules**. An access rule gates checkout or storefront content using the entitlements and tags your approvals grant.

## When setup is complete

When every step is marked **Done**, neither the setup modal nor the warning banner appears. If you prefer, select **Skip for now** in the setup modal to dismiss it while leaving the warning banner and every destination intact.

## Add the storefront blocks

After the setup steps, add the **Customer Gate** application-form and access-gate blocks in the Shopify theme editor. For the step-by-step, see [Add the theme blocks](https://docs.pcnaid.com/nodes/shopify/customer-gate/merchant/guides/add-theme-blocks.md).
