# Set Up Enhanced Document Verification

> Configure government-ID and date-of-birth verification through Didit for online, checkout, and POS verification flows.

# Set Up Enhanced Document Verification

## What does this do for me?

Enhanced mode sends the shopper to the configured identity provider for government-ID and date-of-birth verification. Didit is the production provider. Stripe Identity is the rollback path.

## Requirements

Enhanced verification requires the **Enterprise** plan. The provider must be fully configured with an API key, workflow, and webhook secret.

## 1. Open Settings

1. Open **Age Verification** in Shopify admin.
2. Select **Settings** in the app navigation.

## 2. Select verification mode

Under **General**, choose **Enhanced (provider-hosted document check)**.

## 3. Provider readiness

The app checks whether the configured provider is ready before enabling enhanced mode. If a warning appears, contact support to confirm provider configuration.

## 4. Configure additional Enterprise features

On the Settings page you can also configure:

* **State and province rules** — set different minimum ages by state or province.
* **Automatic gate-copy translation** — translate merchant-authored gate copy through Azure AI Translator, DeepL, or Google Cloud Translation.
* **Merchant API and API webhooks** — create bearer keys on the app's **Developer** page and configure API lifecycle webhooks.
* **Immutable audit log** — hash-chained compliance record with CSV export.
* **Policy version log** — view the history of saved policy changes.

## Important

A provider-backed enhanced check does not copy government-ID images, selfies, or biometric artifacts into the app database. The selected provider remains the system of record for identity documents.
